The 245(i) provision of immigration law allows illegal aliens, including visa over stayers and border jumpers, who would normally be eligible to immigrate legally from their home country, to process their papers while remaining in the U.S., and waives the illegal entry punishment of deportation for a 10 year period of not being allowed to re-enter the U.S.
