Dear Mr. Villaraigosa:

You may remember me. I am the activist who was instrumental in causing your bid for L.A.'s Mayor to fail as a result of launching the site that opposed you <www.MayorNo.com>. In addition to the  launched site, I organized a telephone message delivery system which delivered 40,000 recorded telephone calls to the Valley voters warning them of your separatist background and your involvement with MECHA (Movemiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan -- Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan). I find the MECHA Manifesto "El Plan de Aztlan" to be extremely racist, as it contains many racial slurs: Anglos like myself (Jewish) are referred to as Brutal Gringos; American Citizens of European ancestry like myself are referred to as Foreign Europeans and Foreigner gabachos. Since the document also refers to the Southwest U.S. as a country of its own called "Aztlan," I can only conclude that anyone who follows the beliefs of MECHA's leadership, is a SUBVERSIVE RACIST.

Our America is supposed to be working towards a society in which one's ancestry does not matter. But MECHA's rhetoric with terms like "our people" and "Raza" (race) and "La Raza de Bronze" (Bronze Race) are un-American and racist.

As an experiment, I converted the "El Plan de Aztlan" manifesto into a fictional manifesto called STUSADE. (STUdent Sons And Daughters of Europe). The STUSADE manifesto is a verbatim copy of the El Plan de Aztlan manifesto, with the exception that all slurs and racial rhetoric was reversed to reflect bigotry by Europeans against Brown skin people. The friends whom I fooled by showing the STUSADE manifesto thought it was very racist -- one friend said that it looked like Hitler himself wrote it. Upon revealing the ruse, all agreed that the STUSADE manifesto was no different than the El Plan de Aztlan manifesto in racist terms.

The preamble of MECHA's National Constitution requires its members to "Liberate Aztlan." This cannot be interpreted in any way but literally. But even if to "Liberate Aztlan" is meant to be only symbolic, then it is still racially divisive.

It is shocking that not only are MECHA chapters allowed to proliferate in Los Angeles' schools and colleges, but they are certified as official "clubs" and are funded with the public's tax dollars.

I can understand that you may have had ideological reasons to support MECHA in those racially turbulent days of the 60s and 70s, but your refusal to answer the question by Frank Mottek of KNX-Radio News when he asked if you if you still hold that organization (MECHA) as your own and if you still support the group -- and what do you tell kids that see this kind of stuff on the Internet?, your answer made clear your support for MECHA.

At the time, I made the proposal to you, that if you publicly and unconditionally repudiated MECHA, I would remove the MayorNo site and cease any opposition to your candidacy. Had you accepted my proposal, you would be the Mayor of Los Angeles today.

I now offer the same proposal. I call upon you to publicly and unconditionally repudiate MECHA and its viciously anti-Semitic offshoot, La Vos de Aztlan If you do, I will permanently close the MayorNo website and cease any opposition to your current candidacy.

I look forward to your comments.

Hal Netkin

P.S. I have called upon your opponent, former MECHISTA, Nick Pacheco,  to also repudiate MECHA.
